In collaboration with Re-Imagining Migration, the History Co:Lab produced and published “Building Belonging: Harnessing the Power of Education in a Time of Demographic Change,” a forward-thinking report that explores the crucial role of belonging in learning ecosystems. The research offers actionable strategies for fostering trust, safety, and inclusion in school communities, especially for the migrant youth who become newcomer students.
Through a comprehensive exploration of the complex nature of belonging, the barriers to its cultivation, and practical strategies for creating inclusive educational environments, we’ve charted in this report a unified approach to educational change. The approach transcends traditional academic metrics to embrace broader dimensions of community engagement. The “Building Belonging” report supports and steers a collective effort to transform young people’s educational institutions into beacons of belonging.
