Pittsburgh, PA

In partnership with Remake Learning, we co-lead the Civic Learning Ecosystem, a collaborative working group of educators, organizations, teens, and community partners in Pittsburgh, PA, striving to redefine K-12 civic learning.

Over the last year, our working group has hosted a problem-scoping and vision-mapping workshop to support the naming of challenges and opportunities, created a core steering committee who has crafted a plan to map and activate a web of civic learning players across the region, and held a youth co-design workshop on the future of democracy.

MAPPING YOUTH CIVIC LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES

At the Civic Learning Ecosystem’s Youth Design Day, held on June 25, 2024, youth leaders, educators, civic organizers, and community members from southwestern Pennsylvania came together at the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh’s SLB Youth Media Center. Their mission? To map out every opportunity in Pittsburgh where young people feel empowered and truly seen. We proudly share this map, amplifying their insights and vision for shaping civic learning in Pittsburgh, PA.
